Megan Leavey
In the film "Megan Leavey" a young women found herself enlisting in the Marines when life got the best of her. Her friend Jesse had recently died and it had felt like her whole died when he did. During her training she finds herself wanting to be a dog handler, she eventually got Rex. Megan and Rex got deployed and their bond grew with each day that went by. Once Megan decided she was not going to reenlist she fought for Rex's adoption. I think the main purpose of the film is to tech people the risks that war has not only on a person but on military animals too. I also think that it represents relationships that grow between them. These people only have each other, they need one another to lean on and share things with because only they know what they are going through.
I really enjoyed watching the film. I liked that it was based on a true story and represents something bigger than what most people know. It really represents and shows the extreme conditions they experience and how it affects them from there on. This film draws the viewers in and you feel emotionally connected to them and their story.
I think some of my personal experiences and biases do change my evaluation of the film. One reason is I did have family enlist and go off to fight so I can picture them there and makes me understand and get more emotionally connected. I also have a god that is part German Shepard and looks very much like a dog they might use as a military dog so I really enjoyed watching and seeing them do their work. I really like this film and would recommend it to anyone who loves a true story.
